New Tax Credits & Rebates
High Efficiency Boilers/Water Heaters/Solar/Geothermal
February 2009

Please read this information carefully to help your customers. This can have a very significant impact upon your company sales.

The new American Recovery and Reinvestment Act signed into law February 17 includes an assortment of new and amended tax credits for Green residential mechanical equipment that will make these technologies much more economically attractive to end users. Green is Here and Now!!!
Also below is a new commercial hot water heater retrofit rebate program.

Ultra High Efficiency Boilers and Water Heaters:
Residential Retrofit Tax Credit

PhoenMunchContA new 30% federal tax credit to a maximum of $1,500 for retrofit or remodel residential condensing boiler or water heater projects where the home is owner occupied.

Effective: January 1, 2009 through December 31, 2010. All Heat Transfer Products brands of Munchkin and Contender boilers and Phoenix water heaters qualify for this program. Please note the attached qualification data sheets that your client will be required to submit with their tax returns. (see sidebar)

The $2,000 cap on the 30% residential federal solar hot water tax credit has been eliminated. This tax credit applies to the installation, parts and labor, for retrofit and new construction solar hot water projects.
Effective: January 1, 2009 to December 31, 2016.

Note: As a fully integrated solar hot water system, the total installed cost of the Phoenix Solar system (not including any space heating distribution) qualifies for the uncapped solar tax credit. This provides a significant economic advantage for fully integrated systems. The independent boiler and conventional gas back up portions of installed solar systems do not qualify for a solar tax credit but may apply for an energy efficiency tax credit for retrofit projects (see above).

Note: Title 24 is changing again July 1, 2009. The new code provides ample credit for solar hot water systems (not to mention high efficiency hydronics), making solar systems a more attractive option for compliance and those seeking to exceed Title 24.

Residential Geothermal Heat Pump Systems:
30% Tax Credit

Geothermal Products

An Energy Star geothermal heat pump property installed after December 31, 2008 is eligible for 30% of the installed cost without a cap in residential application, as provided under the American Recover and Reinvestment Tax Act of 2009. Both our Econar and Geo Excel residential geothermal heat pumps qualify for this program. Please call our Geothermal specialist, Ike Ericksen, for product selection, specification and quotation.

High Efficiency Commercial Water Heating
Retrofit Program

PhoenModconRBIContractors can receive a $2/1000btu or $4/1000btu rebate for installation of high efficiency water heating boilers or tank water heaters for qualifying PG&E commercial customers. All of our Phoenix, Phoenix Solar, Munchkin VWH, Modcon VWH and RBI water heaters are approved for this program. See attachment for more information or call Eric Ott at (800) 786-6847.
